About this wine
Named for the peregrines in the region, this wine does a great job of expressing the character of the appellation through fruit sourced from the Sanford and Benedict Vineyard and Rancho Encantada two terrific sites for Pinot Noir. Bright acidity lifts the rich fruit character of clones 667 and 777 from S&B, while the earthiness of the Pommard clone from Encantada brings further texture and depth.
Pinot Report
Medium-deep ruby color; rich, smoky, meaty dark cherry aromas; ripe, deep, rich dark cherry and plum flavors, smoky, meaty notes; sweet oak; good structure and balance; long finish. Rich and smoky Pinot with a lot of depthI have a feeling we're just scratching the surface of what's inside this wine. Be patient. Score: 93
Food and wine

Indie Winemakers' Tasting Notes
Our mission is to provide unbiased opinions of the wine being offered. These notes come from up to 10 guests who tasted this wine in a blind tasting format (wine is concealed so their identity is unknown). Why this format? Tasting blind completely throws out any hype associated with a certain winery, style, price point, etc; it forces the taster to accept what is in the glass without any predetermined notions. Our guests utilize Robert Parker's Glossary of Wine Terms for their comments for consistency purposes. In addition, we utilize the wine aroma wheel to enhance one’s ability to describe the complexity of wine flavor. Notes are posted on this wine during the tasting to ensure they accurately reflect the impressions.
Tasting Notes
- BS: Very nice black fruit nose. Has a mineral almost like wet stone aroma to it. Smooth, medium finish with lots of black cherry in the mid palate.
- BH: Lots of pepper and some dirt/earth in the nose. Very nice fresh dark fruits and pepper on the palate.
- DV: Berry and earth nose and flavors, a little sour on the side palate. Let this sit in the glass a bit, it really opens up to cherry nose and flavors.
- BW: Has almost a lambec quality with much of the cherry flavor taste on the side-tongue. Very smooth and enjoyable.
- KW: Nice cherry smell and taste. I also tasted some smoke flavors.
- BH: A bigger, more complex Pinot Noirs than most. Very well balanced and medium finish. Lots of pepper and dark fruits on nose and palate. Give it some time to breathe.

Technical Notes - 06 Peregrine Pinot Noir
Blended from vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County, this wine expresses the tannic structure, herbed nuance, and beautiful fruit of the appellation with boldness and finesse. We named this wine for the peregrine falcons which call the region home and soar on the coastal winds that cool the area to create excellent growing conditions for Pinot Noir.
About Roessler Cellars
Roessler Cellars is dedicated to producing top-quality single-vineyard and appellation wines that are intricate, integrated, and true to the terroir of the vineyards and regions of their origins. We are also particularly fond of wines that pair well with food and we focus on crafting wines not only with tremendous individual expression, but also with a good balance of acidity, tannin, and fruit.
The very different ways in which Pinot Noir can express itself has driven us to source fruit from a wide range of vineyards from as far south as Santa Barbara to as far north as Mendocino. We also have built relationships with growers who are committed to what we believe are the cornerstones of producing excellent wines, and we take an active role in managing our blocks, working with the growers to ensure the highest quality fruit.
In the cellar, we employ winemaking techniques that can be characterized as "Old World" in style, with a minimum of intervention. This allows all of the hard work in the vineyard to shine through and creates a classic backdrop for the nuances and characters derived from the variety of soils, clones, and climates
